Pithos offers every user 50 GBytes of online storage, accessible from anywhere, always, securely. The use of the service is free and free for students and members of the academic, research and educational community of Greece. Users can safely save their files and share them with other users. In addition, the service offers search and archiving (versioning) capabilities. The use of the service is governed by the terms of use.
We can use Pithos with three ways
Users of MS Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, have three independent applications for accessing the platform(stand alone rich clients):
Firefox
Firefox\’s users have two Firefox plugins, which were developed by GRNET SA
- Pithos Firefox Extension is offering the operation of web client interface προσφέρει τη λειτουργικότητα του web client interface simulating file management programs (e.g. Windows Explorer).
- FireGSS, offers additional features such as backup / sync between local files and Pithos files.
Mobile
- Android users can download the latest version of the application gssdroid.
- iPhone, iPad or iPod touch users can download the Pithos application from iTunes (currently not available)
