The Student Branch of the IEEE of the University of Western Macedonia in Kastoria announces the successful participation of its members in the 24-hour global programming competition IEEEXtreme17. The competition started in the early morning hours (03:00) of Saturday, October 28, 2023 and 3 teams consisting of 7 students of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Western Macedonia participated.
The IEEEXtreme competition is organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is an opportunity for students from all over the world to compete and solve challenges in a wide range of technological fields. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive competitions in the field of technology, bringing together students from around the world for a demanding challenge.
The teams participated in the competition under the supervision of Mr. Angelos Michalas, Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and achieved very good positions in both the National and International rankings.

Finally, the members of the Student Branch would like to thank Mr. Dimitrios Vergados, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Computer Science for the use of the Telecommunications, Networks and Distributed Systems Laboratory for the conduct of the competition.
