HellBound: Infernal Echoes

HellBound: Infernal Echoes — main menu

What if Dante’s journey through the nine circles of Hell were a video game? That was the starting point for HellBound: Infernal Echoes, a 2D action platformer created in 2024 as a one-year game development project of our Student Branch.

The game

The player descends through Hell across 13 levels, including a tutorial, with difficulty rising at every step. Three bosses guard key parts of the journey. Defeated enemies leave behind “Echoes”, which the player collects to level up their character.

The core abilities are dash, attack, jump and healing, combined with movement and exploration. Because levels and enemies are procedurally generated, no two runs are the same.

How it was made

The game was built in Unity with C#, using Visual Studio Code, Git/GitHub for teamwork and Adobe Photoshop for the graphics. Development followed three phases: research, concept design, and implementation and testing.

The goal of the project was to learn game development by building something complete within a single academic year — from the first idea to a playable release. And the team delivered exactly that.
