Report IEEE Week 2019

The IEEE Week 2019 held by the IEEE Student Branch, University of  Western Macedonia, Department of Informatics, Kastoria from Monday the 13th to Friday the 17th of May 2019, in the facilities of the institute was successfully completed.

The IEEE Week 2019 started with a Membership Day on Monday the 13th of May, in which everyone interested had the chance to be informed about IEEE and the actions of our Student Branch and our future goals.

On Tuesday the 14th of May 2019, a Coffee Talk was organized by Women in Engineering took place in the Laboratories Building in order to give information about its actions. Following that, a Workshop with subject \”WordPress for Beginners – Make your first personal site!\”, with the purpose of getting the participants to learn about the basic knowledge of creating a personal site.

On Wednesday the 15th of May 2019, a Workshop with subject \”LaTeX – Writing of academic articles\”, in collaboration with the President of Informatics Engineering Department Kalogiratou Zacharoula, and, the  Academic Associates Vasileiadis George and Sisias George. The goal of the Workshop was to get the participants in touch with LaTeX, in order to create Academic Articles on Informatics and Mathematics.

On Thursday the 16th of May 2019, the 7th annual conference took place in which the counselor of our Student Branch, Michalas Angelos gave a presentation on \”A Network Selection Algorithm for Supporting Drone Services in 5G Architecture\”, followed by the presentations of the Student Branch\’s projects on Cloud Computing and Digital Reality. Then followed a presentation on the actions and the  educational activities of the Student Branch.

The IEEE Week 2019 came to an end on Friday the 17th of May, with the workshop \”Unity Workshop – Introduction to Augmented Reality\”, in which  there was an introduction on Augmented Reality and after that, followed a presentation of the tools needed in order to create an Android AR Application.

We would like to thank the professors that supported our efforts, the Student Branch\’s counselor Michalas Angelos, the President of Informatics Engineering Department Kalogiratou Zacharoula, furthermore the Academic Associates Vasileiadis George and Sisias George and everyone that participated in the event.
