Writing scientific texts with Latex

The IEEE Student Branch Western Macedonia University of Applied Sciences, Kastoria, organizes for the second consecutive year a workshop on the Writing of Scientific Papers with Latex. The workshop will take place at the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia in Kastoria, on Friday, June 10 at 15:00, in Room B2.

The Workshop is open to all and will feature the following issues

•Introduction to Latex and Creation of Mathematical Expressions by K. Kalogloratos Zacharoula, Professor of the Department.
•Creation of a Master\’s Degree model by K. Vasiliadis Georgios, Scientific Associate of the Department.

•Creation of Presentation with Beamer by Dimitra Petati, Graduate of the Department

Latex is a text authoring system based on a tex typing program. The tex program was developed by Doland Knuth in 1977 to write mathematical texts. His aim was to improve the low quality of mathematical publications of his time.

The Latex system developed by Leslie Lamport is basically a tex-based macro package. Allows its users to easily build mathematical texts of high aesthetic quality and organization. Contains instructions for the organization of multi-page texts, proper understanding and numbering of reports, theories etc, by relieving the user of the tedious process of the manual numbering of each theorem, a lemma, a bibliographic reference. it is also certain that with Latex the purity of the mathematical forms of the text will be the greatest possible since this was Knuth\’s original goal.
