How does a program talk to the computer’s hardware? What does the operating system kernel actually do? Our IEEE Student Branch, in collaboration with ΕΕΛΛΑΚ, is organising a hands-on workshop designed especially for students, led by Dimitris Papakonstantinou, our Programming Activities Chair, to take a look under the hood of Linux.
What we will do
- See the difference between user space and kernel space
- Write, compile and load our own out-of-tree kernel module, step by step
What you need
- Basic knowledge of C
- A laptop with Linux (ideally in a virtual machine)
- No previous experience with operating systems is required
✅ Update: The workshop took place successfully on 15/05. Thank you to everyone who took part!
