University Mobile Internet

University Mobile Internet is a 3G wireless 4GB data volume package that is offered exclusively for students, teachers and staff of Greek Universities and TEIs at a preferential price of 4.74 euros per month. It is provided in collaboration with Vodafone, which was selected following an open international competition conducted by GRNET SA.

With this initiative students and staff of higher education staff

· Gain seamless access to educational content hosted either at their home institutions or on the Internet

· Can use and deploy innovative services based on mobile platforms

For students, the identification process is carried out by displaying the academic identity and for University and TEI staff by displaying a payroll or attestation copy from the institution concerned.

Who has the right to participate in “University Mobile Internet”?

• Undergraduate students and TEIs for a period equal to the intended duration of their studies and up to two years beyond that time (n + 2 years).

• Postgraduate students pursuing a program with the aim of obtaining a Diploma for two (2) years and Postgraduate PhD candidates for four (4) years from the date of their enrollment.

• Students of the Hellenic Open University (Hellenic Open University) for as long as they are listed in the Student Identity Card.

• Students of the University of Athens (SSE, SND, SSI) for 4 years from the date of issue of the Student Identity Card.

• The members of the Teaching Staff of the University of Athens (TSE, TU, TSE) as long as they maintain this capacity.

• University / TEI staff members as long as they hold this position.

• Research staff staff as long as they maintain this capacity.

Identification Process:

1. For college students and TEIs, the identification process is carried out by demonstrating academic identity

2. For NAP students, the identification process is carried out by demonstrating the Student Identity Card.

3. For students at ASEI, the identification process is carried out by demonstrating the Student Identity Card.

4. For the teaching staff of the HEIs, the identification process shall be carried out by displaying a statement of monthly remuneration or certification of the relevant HEI.

5. For University and TEI staff, the identification process is carried out by displaying a copy of the payroll or attestation by the institution concerned.

6. For the staff of research institutions with a copy of the payroll or attestation by the institution concerned.

General information

· The beneficiary who chooses the 3G internet access service from the Contractor will be committed to the subscription for 12 months. After the expiry of 12 months, if the beneficiary wishes to renew his / her membership for an additional 12 months then the (electronic or physical) identification process will be resumed to ensure that the academic status is maintained.

· The Contractor provides the beneficiary with a USB modem stick free of charge which enables him / her to have 3G internet access via a (laptop) computer.

· The USB modem stick provided for internet access is the K3772 of today\’s value of 30 euros according to the current price list.

· In the event that, within 36 months of the project being completed, this model ceases to be commercially available, the Contractor will provide an identical model with the same or better technical specifications for the user at an independent price.

· If the beneficiary wishes to purchase a more expensive USB modem stick than the bidder has the option to do so by paying the difference.

· Also if the beneficiary wishes to receive another wireless interface device specified by the Contractor and not the USB modem stick, he may do so with a device of equivalent value or more expensive if he pays the difference.

· Internet access to the service will be provided using the USB modem stick and dashboard provided by the Contractor.

· The dashboard is included in the USB modem stick that the user will receive.

· With the interface the user will be able to easily manage their service and determine the best way to connect to the internet.

· The interface is often upgraded to make it even more user-friendly. The latest version is 10.3 and any updates are always available from the Contractor\’s website.

·The 3G internet access service will enable the user to monitor and be updated in real time on the amount of data left over until the 4 GB is completed. Specifically, the user will automatically receive informational SMS at 80% and 100% of its use. In addition to the automatic update, the user will be able to visit the specially configured MyVMB page where he / she will be able to control in real time the amount of data remaining up to 4 GB. In addition to the specially designed MyVMB page, an update is also provided by sending a blank SMS to 1223.

· Upon completion of 4 GB, the user access to the Internet is interrupted and the user is automatically re-directed to the specially configured MyVMB page from which he can, if he wishes, continue his access to the Internet by selecting the volume package data that suits him best, undertaking to pay the corresponding charge. If a volume package is selected then the user regains access to the internet. If the user does not select any of the available volume packages, then disconnecting the service will remain until the new monthly billing cycle starts, according to which 4 GB will be available again.
