Conference Report: Getting to know STEAM Education

The MSc in Advanced Information Technologies and Services, the School of Science of the University of Macedonia, the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Western Macedonia and the IEEE Student Branch University of Western Macedonia, Kastoria successfully co-organized a workshop entitled “Getting to know STEAM Education”
on Friday, May 27th at 17:00.
The workshop was held at the premises of the University of Western Macedonia in Kastoria, while at the same time it was possible to attend the workshop through Zoom for those who preferred to attend the workshop online.
The agenda of the workshop included the following presentations:
● Presentation of the Postgraduate Program Advanced Information Technologies and Services and the specialization Information and Communication Technologies in Education by Mr. Angelos Michalas, Director of the MSc.
● Presentation of the Educational Activities of the IEEE Student Branch University of Western Macedonia, Kastoria by Mrs. Cleopatra Gola, PhD Candidate of the Department of Informatics
● Presentation on “STEM Education as an interdisciplinary approach to science, technology, engineering and mathematics” by Ms. Elena Zygouri, Ph.D., M.ed., ex-SEE PE 70 3rd Section PEKES Western Macedonia.
● Presentation on “Artificial Intelligence in Education” by Mr. Dimitris Tzimas, Coordinator of the Educational Project of Informatics of Western Macedonia
● Presentation on “Implementation of the STEM approach” in the All-day Kindergarten by Mrs. Aspasia Vologianni, graduate of the MSc
The workshop lasted four hours and was attended by more than 100 people who participated either in person or online through the Zoom platform, from whom we received positive comments on the topics and the content of the presentations.
